Competition Objectives of the competition and site characteristics
The land available for the construction of the new headquarters of the Portuguese Professional Football League is located in Ramalde, next to a green area with a watercourse. The immediate surroundings present a great variety of building types. To the east, late 20th-century residential tower neighborhoods; to the west, courtyards of older, smaller-scale buildings, delimited by granite walls; to the north, a banal four-story collective housing building; and to the south, a generic warehouse/commercial establishment of no particular quality.
In addition to housing and being the new face of an important national public institution, the building has the function of regenerating and ordering this place, composed of the antagonistic realities described above.

General principles of the intervention
What is the LPFV headquarters? What should it "look like"?
In our understanding, the new building should be representative of the importance of the LPFP institution.
In this sense, we propose a vertically developed building that highlights this aspect and allows for greater visibility from other points in the city.
Considering, on the one hand, that the available land has reduced dimensions for the intended program and, on the other hand, the strong presence of high-rise construction in the surrounding area, we believe that a tower volume is appropriate. This building is flanked by two smaller volumes with a shape corresponding to its program (an auditorium and a covered sports court). This results in different open spaces, which the high-rise construction allows to be freed up: an entrance plaza connected to the confluence of access roads and a more intimate landscaped courtyard to the south. The green spaces flanking the building appear as a natural continuation of the green space to the north and the courtyards to the south.
The three volumes are joined by a partially basement construction and a basement garage. The fragmentation of the construction allows for its phasing, as desired in the tender program.
We aim for relative physical transparency in these constructions. On the one hand, it is synonymous with the opening of these institutions to society; on the other, it allows the program's components to be made visible, especially the sports court, the main theme of the complex.

Program Organization
Public access areas are located on the lower floors of the building, while more private access areas are on the upper floors.
A central core with vertical access and services organizes the central tower, which houses the LPFP headquarters on the upper floors and the Research and Development Center on the floors immediately below. These floors of the tower are, as far as possible, organized as "open space," without structural elements conditioning the organization, in order to allow for flexible use.
The atrium and shop occupy the ground floor as a natural extension of the external space. We intend for the museum's location to also be visible from the outside. Thus, the museum is located on the first floor, facing the plaza, with a direct connection to the atrium via a generously sized, triple-height, independent staircase (which in turn also visually connects to the lower floor with a link to the cafeteria). The museum exit is through the shop. Outside, a video wall advertises the museum on the first floor. It can be used for broadcasting games, transforming the public space of the square into an open auditorium that invites the public to participate in the building.
The auditorium also has direct access from the atrium. It is organized on a double level with a peripheral gallery and retractable seating.
On a lower floor, there is a second atrium that provides access to the cafeteria/canteen, which opens onto a landscaped patio, a multi-purpose room (with natural zenithal lighting from an English patio), the lower level of the auditorium, and a sports field, also open to the patio to the west. All these spaces can function autonomously or together, given their proximity and functions.
The garage is accessed by a ramp on the northern boundary of the site and, from the inside, by the central stair and elevator cores. This garage is built on a ramp with an approximate slope of 3.7%, which avoids interior ramps.
Technical areas are located on the tower's roof and in the basement; other areas are distributed throughout the building (to be defined later).

Structure and Materiality
A central concrete core organizes the tower. We foresee a peripheral steel structure that frees up internal space on each floor and allows for organizational flexibility. The slabs will have a steel structure. The floors will be raised to allow for complete flexibility in infrastructure use. We foresee a 4m slab-to-slab spacing, for a 3m clear height.
The facades will be clad in glass with thermal protection on the outer facades, transparent on the larger facades, and lacquered at the top.
The other building volumes share the same construction system: steel frames with peripheral columns, metal slabs...
","align":"top","row":17,"col":4,"colspan":8,"offsetx":0,"offsety":0,"spaceabove":0,"spacebelow":0,"yvel":1,"push":4,"relid":1992,"absolute_position":false}]}
["GET
